We hope that 2021 will be the year in which the corona situation has less of an impact on daily life and we can slowly return to a society without restrictions and limitations.
Due to new customs procedures and adoption to this new process UPS and DPD delivery time will take longer than normal. UPS Express or UPS Express saver will be most efficient delivery options.
Due to the long delays at DPD, we have chosen to temporarily make it unavailable to pick as shipping option.
First weeks of 2021: UPS & DPD shipments to the UK
Good news for all our UK customers. We are pleased to inform you that we are ready to serve you in our shop. Once again, you can choose from a variety of transport options. Due to the cost of customs clearance, transport costs have increased slightly. Fortunately, we have managed to limit the extra costs.
What will change after January first, 2021?
The year 2021 will also be the year in which the new relationship between the EU and the UK in terms of the internal market (customs union) will change in a concrete and tangible way. From January first, 2021 the trade from EU countries to the UK will be different from what we have been used to in recent years with our customs union.
VAT, Import duties and Shipment
This is what we now know after the final agreement last week.
The UK has decided that from January first, 2021, for shipments up to 135 Pounds in value, the seller (we) will be responsible for charging and remitting (to the HMRC) the UK VAT. Also for (b2b) shipments with VAT registration in the UK. If the order value exceeds 135 Pounds, the seller (we) may choose to charge VAT in advance. If the VAT is not invoiced in advance, the VAT will be charged to you upon receipt of the parcel. Also for (b2b) shipments with VAT registration in the UK.
For orders over £135, the carrier must pay the VAT to customs. For this the carrier charges 2.5% of the VAT amount as a commission with a minimum of €13,- (£12) You pay the carrier commission and the VAT. The carrier will deliver the package once the amount is paid.
After the final trade agreement last week between the EU and the UK, consignments will NOT be subject to additional import duties to be paid by the recipient. That’s good news!
As a result of the disappearance of the internal market (customs union), carriers such as DPD and UPS will charge additional costs for the additional customs formalities. We try to lower these additional costs as much as possible for you. In January we will update you with the final result. Northern Ireland Although not all details are clear: as it seems now all shipments to Northern Ireland will not be affected by the new EU/UK trade relation.
We'll meet again! Soon!
In spite of all of the corona measures, we wish you very happy holidays and all the best for 2021, and we are confident of a good outcome in a new relationship between the EU and the UK. On behalf of the team at Paracord.eu, Thank you! Your coloured cord paradise from The Netherlands.
