VAT, Import duties and Shipment
This is what we know about ordering from us when you live in the UK.
|Amount ex. VAT
(incl. shipping costs)
|VAT paid to||Extra cost (import duties, carrier commission, etc.)|
|Up to £135||Paracord.eu||No|
|£135 and above||Carrier||Carries commission of 2.5% with a minimum of around £12.
Import duties may apply.
The UK has decided that from January first, 2021, for shipments up to 135 Pounds in value (ex. VAT), the seller (we) will be responsible for charging and remitting (to the HMRC) the UK VAT. Also for (b2b) shipments with VAT registration in the UK. If the order value exceeds 135 pounds (ex. VAT), the seller (we) will not charge VAT. If the VAT is not invoiced in advance, the VAT will be charged to you upon receipt of the parcel. Also for (b2b) shipments with VAT registration in the UK.
For orders over £135 (ex. VAT, including shipping costs), the carrier must pay the VAT to customs. For this the carrier charges 2.5% of the VAT amount as a commission with a minimum of €13,- (about £12). You pay the carrier commission and the VAT, there can be extra import duties for these orders as well. The carrier will deliver the package once the amount is paid.
After the final trade agreement between the EU and the UK, consignments for orders below the £135 (ex. VAT, including shipping costs) threshold will NOT be subject to additional import duties to be paid by the recipient.
As a result of the disappearance of the internal market (customs union), carriers such as DPD and UPS charge additional costs for the additional customs formalities, which results in higher shipping costs from the Netherlands to the UK than before 2021.
