Leather Scraps
Greased leather (also known as pull-up leather or oily suede) is a high-quality type of leather treated with natural oils or wax. This gives the surface its characteristic rich, waxy feel, with the colour deeply impregnated into the leather rather than applied as a coating. The natural grain remains beautifully visible. With use, greased leather develops a unique patina, and small scratches can be easily rubbed out by hand as the natural oils resurface through warmth.
The pieces vary in shape and size due to the cutting method. Stock is limited and each piece is one of a kind.
As a guideline: a 10x10 cm piece weighs approximately 37 grams, meaning 500 grams equates to around 135 cm² of leather.
Greased leather is especially popular for dog leads and collars, thanks to its soft feel in the hand and outstanding durability.
A budget-friendly way to build up stock
Scraps and offcuts are a lower-cost way to try a new technique, practise before working on a full piece, or build up a stock of material for smaller projects like keychains, patches or samples.
