PPM Multicord consists of 100% high-quality Polypropylene Multifilament yarns. It is shiny, lightweight and barely absorbs water. PPM rope floats, dries quickly and does not get dirty easily. Therefore, it is highly resistant to mold.
The cord has an OEKO-TEX® certificate, which means it is non-toxic and safe for humans and animals. Please note that sunlight exposure may cause the cord's color to fade.
A reliable all-rounder
With a braided core for extra strength and a smooth, easy-to-knot surface, PPM Basic Round works well across a wide range of projects, from horse halters and dog leads to bracelets and home decor. It floats, dries quickly and resists mould, making it a practical choice for both indoor and outdoor use.
How much weight can PPM cord hold?
| Diameter | Breaking strength | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|
| 2 mm | 70 kg | Jewellery, keyrings, light craft projects |
| 3 mm | 130 kg | Craft projects, light-duty use |
| 4 mm | 245 kg | Dog leads, general DIY |
| 5 mm | 360 kg | Dog leads, horse halters, medium duty |
| 6 mm | 510 kg | Horse halters, medium to heavy duty |
| 8 mm | 880 kg | Heavy-duty use, horse tack |
| 10 mm | 1150 kg | The heaviest-duty option in this range |
Breaking strength is the point at which the rope fails, not the safe working load. For general lifting, a 5:1 safety factor is standard; synthetic ropes like PPM typically use 5:1 to 7:1. For lifting people, a stricter 10:1 applies.
Keep in mind that knots can reduce rope strength by 35 to 50%, while a properly executed splice retains 80 to 90% of the original strength. For critical applications, splicing is the stronger choice.
This PPM cord is designed for dog leads, horse tack and craft projects. It is not certified for climbing or for lifting heavy objects above people or animals.
